Terroir
This wine comes from a property of 6 hectares located on the prestigious Grand Cru slopes of Saint-Émilion. The specific terroir is composed of deep gravelly-siliceous soils. This type of soil, rich in both gravel and silicates, provides excellent drainage and allows the roots to go deep, resulting in elegant and complex wines.
Producer
The estate is owned by the Vignobles Mouty family. In line with their overall commitment to quality and low-intervention winemaking, the château applies rigorous standards to the vineyard. This includes keeping yields low, at around six bunches per vine , and performing an important manual sorting of the grapes, ensuring only the best fruit is used for this Grand Cru.
Wine
This is a classic Saint-Émilion blend composed of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The total production is limited to approximately 24,000 bottles. The wine is aged for a long 16 months. This aging process is split, with 50% of the wine in new 400-litre oak barrels and 50% in one-wine barrels. The final wine showcases the power and elegance expected from a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru.
Vintage
The 2022 vintage is widely regarded as excellent in Bordeaux. This wine is already approachable but possesses the necessary structure to evolve beautifully. Its concentration and complexity mean it can be enjoyed now, while also promising long-term aging potential.
Pairing
This full-bodied, distinguished red wine pairs beautifully with hearty and flavourful dishes. Excellent partners include roasted red meats like filet of beef or rack of lamb, rich stews, or mature, creamy cheeses.
Serving
Serve the wine at 17°C. It is strongly advised to decant the wine for one to two hours before serving to open up its complex aromas and soften the powerful tannins.
