Terroir
The vineyards of Pommard are blessed with east to south-east exposure and pale limestone soils scattered with small stones. Nestled in Les Chanlins and Les Vaumuriens at higher altitude, these parcels bring both freshness and minerality to the wine, reflecting the raw beauty of Burgundy’s Hautes-Côtes.
Producer
Frédéric Leprince crafts wines with precision and respect for nature. His approach is rooted in sustainable viticulture, with vines planted at a high density of 10,000 per hectare and carefully managed yields. Each detail, from pruning to harvest, is guided by a deep understanding of the terroir.
Wine
This Pommard is a pure expression of Pinot Noir, showcasing black fruit aromas, intensity, and depth. The palate reveals both power and elegance, with firm yet finely balanced tannins that speak to the meticulous winemaking and patient ageing in oak barrels.
Vintage
Hand-harvested grapes are carefully sorted before undergoing traditional vinification with indigenous yeasts. A long maceration ensures structure and complexity, followed by 10–12 months of barrel ageing (25% new oak) to achieve harmony and finesse.
Pairing
A wine of strength and character, it pairs beautifully with game birds such as partridge and dishes like beef fillet. Its depth and balance make it a versatile companion to richly flavored cuisine.
Serving
Serve slightly below room temperature, around 16–18°C to fully express its aromatic layers and refined tannins. Decant for an hour before serving to let the wine open and reveal its full complexity.
