Terroir
This wine comes from the Saint-Romain appellation in the Côte de Beaune, occupying an elevated position (280 to 400 metres) in a cool, isolated valley. The soil is a "geologist's paradise"; a unique mix of limestones and marls with clay patches. This unique blend of altitude and geology imparts high acidity and a notable minerality that is the signature of the appellation.
Producer
Frédéric Leprince is based in Nantoux, and his philosophy is marked by simplicity, with the view to allowing the terroirs to express themselves as much as possible. The wine is a beautiful expression of Chardonnay, aged in barrels for twelve months in a very cool cellar, followed by a short passage in vats.
Wine
This 100% Chardonnay white wine reveals a golden color, a delicate nose of citrus fruits and white flowers. The mouth is very round and deployment of a supple, tasty substance, all in freshness. It is known for its purity and mineral grace notes, combining richness with the inherent freshness that distinguishes the Saint-Romain appellation.
Vintage
The 2022 growing season was marked by a hot, sunny summer but was saved by timely June rain, resulting in generous yields. This created Chardonnays that are surprisingly balanced, concentrated, and ripe, yet show fresh energy and beautiful purity of fruit.
Pairing
Pairs well with shellfish, rich fish (like salmon or tuna), mild and soft cheeses, and cured meat. Its minerality makes it an amiable partner for delicate fish and soft-centred cheeses.
Serving
Serve chilled at 10 degrees. A short rest in the glass will allow the wine's intense minerality and fine texture to fully express themselves.
