Terroir

Pomerol is globally renowned for its luxurious, Merlot-dominated wines. This specific cuvée originates from vineyards featuring sandy and gravel soils, giving the wine finesse and a fruit-driven, charming character in its youth. The total vineyard area for this wine is only 80 ares, highlighting the small, exclusive scale of this production.

Producer

Vignobles Mouty is a family-run business with deep roots in Bordeaux tradition. Today, the estate is led by Sabine and Bertrand Mouty. Carrying on the family legacy, they have strongly committed to environmental stewardship, leading the entire domain to achieve organic certification Agriculture Biologique since the 2018 harvest. This commitment underscores their respect for the land and their dedication to expressing the pure Pomerol terroir.

Wine

This is a pure expression of Pomerol, crafted from 100% Merlot, with an incredibly limited production of only about 4,600 bottles. To ensure this quality, the fruit is harvested by hand and strictly selected on a sorting table, with yields kept extremely low, around six bunches per vine. After traditional vinification in small tanks, the wine is aged for 14 months in new 350-liter oak barrels. The resulting wine is elegant, offering intense dark fruit notes and a hint of spice, with a promising structure and fine, smooth tannins.

Vintage

This wine is from the 2023 harvest. The vintage is already displaying a beautifully round and approachable taste, making it ready to be enjoyed now. While it is charming upon release, its promising structure and elegant tannins also indicate that this Pomerol will continue to evolve and gain complexity for many years to come.

Pairing

This elegant Pomerol pairs perfectly with classic French and rich cuisine. Consider serving it alongside red meats like grilled steak or entrecôte, roast lamb shoulder with rosemary, duck with cèpes (mushrooms), or a platter of aged cheeses.

Serving

Serve the wine lightly chilled at 18°C. It is highly recommended to decant the young wine for at least 30 minutes to soften the youthful tannins and allow the fruity aromas to fully unfold.
